My Invterview With Maria Vermisoglou Author of The Cursed Girl

1.     What is your name and/or pen name?

My name is Maria Vermisoglou.

2.     What genre do you write?

I am currently writing epic fantasy.

3.     What made you want to be a writer?

A story came to me and I wanted to share it with the world.

4.     How do you feel about the writing community as a whole?

I love the way writers help other writers. Even if the question seems stupid we help any way we can because everyone started as nobodies and now some of us are bestselling authors.

5.     Have you or will you be willing to collaborate with other authors in the future?

I haven’t, but I would like to try it. It seems interesting and exciting.

6.     Tell us about your book and if it’s upcoming or already published.

I have published my first book that is part of a series. It’s an epic fantasy adventure. It narrates the story of a witch who is a healer and lives in the human world in Spain. The book has magic, adventures, love, friendship, wars, demons… and many more.

7.     Is your book or upcoming book an ebook, paperback, or both?

It’s available in paperback and ebook.

8.     Is this your first book?
Yes, and I am very proud of it.

9.     Are you planning to write more?

Yes, because this is a series. I am planning to add more twists and turns to the story.

10.  Is there anything you would say to people that want to write and publish a book?

Yes. Believe in yourself even if everything seems hopeless. You see a dark tunnel but you will see the light, people will know you, but you have to push forward in order to achieve that. Never give up!

11.   Are you a writer that became a Librarian or a Librarian that became a writer?

I am a Librarian who became a writer.

12.  Can you tell us about how that has influenced your writing career?

I always loved books, even before I knew how to read. When I finished a book, I made up stories in my mind. I took a part of the story and transformed it into something else. But I never wrote them until now. It was 4 years ago that the story of “The cursed girl” came to me. I had finished reading “The City of Heavenly Fire” and I was wondering what if Clary was a witch?

That’s how Eva was born. In the beginning, she was like Clary but after she took her own shape and character. It was strange because I had never written a book before—although I had attempted it many times—this book was like it was being written on its own. I knew the story before I knew it. Does this make any sense? I guess many authors talk that way, but it’s true.

My main influences were books, mainly “The Mortal Instruments” and the tv series “The Witches of East End.” Also, some places had a lot to do with the places that are described in the book.

13.   Where can my readers find your book and how they can follow you on social media? Leave only links that you want open to the public.

Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Eva is a witch who lived in Spain, in the year 1230. She met a boy named Jonathan who would become her whole world. Everything was normal until she was faced with challenges that will change her life forever.

As a healer, her job is to help people, but there are forces that will try to prevent that. There is a war coming and Eva and her friends must do everything they can to survive. Can they fight their way against the dark forces that are surrounding them?

Her wits and inner strength helped everyone who encircled her to survive but will she be able to survive herself?

Supernatural creatures, royal backstabbing and many more await you in this thrilling novel that will take your breath away.
